Capt. Charles Wright welcomes you to Chokoloskee Charters. When you come to Marco Island, Naples, Everglades National Park and the 10,000 Islands, you have reached the very edge of the Florida's last frontier. Fly fishing in the Florida everglades is fishing at its best. Come enjoy everglades snook fishing, tarpon, redfish cobia and grouper. Florida permit fishing does not get any better than right here with nearly 200 releases each year,

In just a half hour drive from Naples & Marco Island, 90 minutes from Miami & Ft. Lauderdale, and less than two hours from Boca Grande, Ft. Myers & West Palm Beach you are fishing Everglades City, Chokoloskee and the 10,000 Islands of the Florida's everglades ... the "Best the State has to offer"!!!

Why Naples fly fishing when you can go to the Everglades National Park only 30 minutes away?

The Everglades National Park and the Ten Thousand Islands are a traveling fisherman's ideal destination.  It is one of the most pristine and productive fisheries in North America.  But equally as important, how many times have you had your trip hurt by weather?  For the light tackle and fly fishing angler, the area's vast expanse of protected waters means that weather days are virtually nonexistent.  There is always sheltered places to fish so you do not spend your fishing days in the fishing lodge or villa.  Never do you have to fish in the wind all day!!

  • Ringer Rich's EKF Report ... Fishing out and around Chokoloskee and Everglades City this August was very rewarding as we were catching some real nice snook ... nice as in 30”+ fish. The fishing has been most productive early, at first light. It has been particularly good when the water is moving. However, we have caught some big fish up till mid-day and also at dusk. Mixing with the snook, on some of the oyster bars have been some nice reds ranging from mid to over-slot fish. The bait of choice has been top water plugs, especially Zara Spook Jr’s. ... just about any color. This last week in August the Tarpon have been thick in many of the rivers and river mouths. They can be real fussy but now is the time to come and fish for them, now thru September! We have been in schools of juveniles along with some very large fish mixed in.  Updated 9/5/08 ...Tuesday last minute I decided to go out. It was fairly hot out but I thought I would use the outgoing tide to help me out to go out to the gulf and when it changed ride it back in and do some fishing. The bite has been on lately on the incoming tide. Well as it would be and as unpredictable as it can sometimes be around here I couldn't find a fish. I fished a river as I drifted in checked out some side bays and oyster bars to no avail. The tide came in so fast. Anyway, I more or less got skunked.  planned to get out early on Wednesday and try fishing the outgoing. I was on the water by 6. I get to my first spot and first cast, fish on! • Capt. John released over 30 snook a week before Fay.  I fished two and three days before Gustav arrived and had a tough day.  The next day, however, the place "went off".

  • Vickie is back fishing (although still a bit fishing spoiled).  She released a 28 lb permit on her last trip ... she'll be happy to tell you all about it!  On the same trip Capt. Bruce releasedfour very big snook ... one pushing 30 lbs.  "Ringer Rich" jumped three tarpon as well.

  • The evening tarpon trips have been very good. We have been putting fish in the air on every trip.  These trips are timed with the full and new moons, so they are limited each month ... a fine cigar, adult beverages and tarpon jumping at sunset ... Hmmm!

  • Sight fishing has been good, but the window of opportunity is pretty short.  The seasonal rains have brought a big influx of fresh, tannin stained water.  This limits your opportunities and time frame as the off-colored water is hard to see through as the water deepens with the tide. A sight fished snook in the shallows ... What can be better?

  • We are pleased to be able to now offer secure, online booking for all our trips.  Please never hesitate to call about any of the charters, to personally work out the details of your fishing trip, discuss accommodations, or anything!  We will always be here for you.   Click for online booking.

  • We will be posting the dates for the upcoming National Park fishing/camping trips very soon ... the first will be in October!

  • For Sale - 1999 Maverick Mirage 2 Flats Skiff.  This is the quintessential flats boat - the Tradition.  Excellent condition, custom rigged and ready to fish.  We have reduced the price to sell it soon ... Click for more information

  • Good news for all!  Fuel prices have came down so have suspended the fuel surcharges on our charters!  Four dollars per gallon on the water seems "cheap" now!
